There's
more good news for home buyers with the announcement
that the Bank of England is poised to launch a
new lending programme for banks. Roger Lake, tops
director, said those hoping to buy or sell should
welcome the news of government intervention as
it will undoubtedly encourage the banks to improve
their mortgage lending.
"Gordon Brown has
met with leading bankers to discuss government
intervention in the money markets," he explained.
"Final details are still being worked out but
the plan is to make it easier for banks to borrow
and lend to each other, which in turn will facilitate
better lending to individual borrowers. "This
is very good news for all those who may be seeking
a mortgage in the coming weeks and months - the
signs are that rates will be turning and heading
down again."

Property Still
Selling
The local property market in Norwich and across
Norfolk is alive
and doing fairly well, according to tops director
Roger Lake. Roger said the current local situation
was in "stark contrast" to the disaster headlines
being put out in the national press and those
looking to buy or sell this year should be
reassured. "The property market in this part
of the world has always had a resilient character,
and been less prone to the wider fluctuations
of some other regions of the UK," he stressed.
"Our county is a desirable place to live,
and a popular place to move to - this adds
stability to demand, and is continuing to
keep estate agents busy."

The
Right Choice for Sales Success
Homeowners
hoping to move this spring should consider
choosing a specialist agent, to ensure
the best chance of a successful sale, according
to Prestige director, Bill Linton. His advice
comes as the UK's leading property website,
Rightmove.co.uk, has said the proportion of
unsold housing stock in Britain has reached
a record high. "Homes are selling at the moment
but at times like these it becomes more important
than ever to make the right choice when signing
up with an agent," he said. "It vital to choose
a company that has specialist experience and
true expertise at marketing property similar
to your own. "The staff need to understand
how to make the most of your home so it really
stands out from the crowd, and to be experienced
at selling in your geographical location and
within your price range."
