TOPS has been the regions leading Property Auctioneer for the last ten years. In the early 1990s, TOPS re-introduced Property Auctions into the Norwich and Norfolk market place.
Company Chairman Peter Colby had previously run them in the 1970s and 1980s, but the recession years that followed saw many local properties being sold through London auction rooms before TOPS reversed that trend.
Over recent years, under the leadership of Auctioneer and Director Bryan Baxter, TOPS has helped promote the understanding and developed the support for Sale by Auction, and the number of properties in the area being sold by this method has grown significantly. Private sellers, witnessing their success introduced Lots into TOPS Auctions in increasing numbers, and appreciated the benefits and advantages of selling locally persuaded several national companies and major institutions to sell properties under the hammer through our Norwich auction.
Amongst those who use the companys services are Network Rail, Grainger Trust PLC, Norwich City Council, The Department of Health, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Norfolk Constabulary, and most leading local solicitors on behalf of private clients. In April 2006 TOPS re-launched its Auction Service to further raise its profile and expand its services to suit the requirements of a maturing market, but also to extend this service to other agents who need an outlet for those properties that are better sold by auction. TOPS Auction House is looking to further develop its customer proposition by expanding the geographical area serviced, adding joint agency instructions into its Catalogues and broadening the variety of property types that it offers for sale under the hammer.
Confidence in the Auction method of sale is growing, but there are still a large number of sellers who do not appreciate its merits or realise that their agent is duty bound to consider this alternative approach. Auction House has been set up to enable any seller and all local estate agents in the area to Sell by Auction.
This web site aims to explain the opportunity more fully to prospective sellers; it also talks through the buying process and gives advice to those thinking of bidding, not only on how to be successful with a purchase, but also what to do with the property afterwards.
